Michael Pachla is a firehose of quality.

But I don't like any of your trades. I would rather try to sign Stewart - and I just don't see the ducks as a good partner for MYers.

I'm on the keeping Myers in Buffalo train and I have been the last 2 years. If he gets dealt I want to see a top line winger coming back. I'm not a fan of the Ducks rumors.

If I'm TM Evander Kane is number one right now. Stewart and St Louis 1st and maybe a mid level prospect (Bailey, Baptiste perhaps).

Stafford and a 3rd to the Islanders for Griffin Reinhart

Enroth and a 2nd to the Rangers for a 1st...after Talbots game yesterday they need a goalie bad with the King being out almost a month.

No Okposo hurts you guys bad. Snow will make a move soon. Since you don't have a 1st or 2nd rounder this year you're going to lose a good prospect I hate to break it to you.

thank you sir

I really like stewart...am thinking maybe the sabres can get away with a Moulson-like trade and off season re-sign

edit: as for the trades?

I don't see why so many people are so interested in getting Gibson from the Ducks. Sure, he's a good goalie prospect, but still unproven at the NHL level, and the Ducks would want a fortune (Myers) in return to pry him away from them. I know people are worried that we don't have a clear-cut #1 in our system, but the truth is we don't yet know what we have in our system with guys like (Makarov, Ullmark, Petersen) This draft will be the deepest one in years which means teams will not be picking goalies in the first round. It may be the late 2nd round early 3rd before the first one even comes off the board. With the amount of picks the Sabres have in the first two rounds, which will surely grow once we sell off our UFA's. We can easily afford to be the team that takes the first goalie off the board, hell take the first two off the board and solidify our goaltending situation for years to come, and this way it won't cost us Tyler Myers.

No, they'll tough it out until he returns. In the unlikely event they have to trade one of their top prospects it's not going to be for somebody like Stafford

I agree on Myers. I just think it's a bad idea for a rebuilding team to trade a massive young defenseman who can skate very well and who (IMO) still has the potential to become one of the top defensemen in all of hockey. For me the only way you can let go of him is if it's for a massive overpayment by the other team, which in Anaheim's case would probably mean a deal including both Gibson and Ritchie which I can't see them agreeing to. Frankly I can't see anybody agreeing to the kind of deal I think it should take to pry him away from Buffalo which is probably for the best.

I just didn't think it was realistic to get a young quality player of Fowler's caliber, especially from a team like the Ducks who would rather keep him for a playoff run. Fowler for Myers seems like a lateral move if not a downgrade for the Ducks so if you can pull that off I'll be surprised.

I like your thinking...but, of all the teams in the nhl, the ducks have the organizational depth and the motive to do something like that

fair enough...I like fowler and think he's an excellent player, but also a bit of a product of his environment...as laid out in the blog, the sabres already have many d-men in the hopper like him so I can't see them trading myers for a similar style d-man...

btw, it was reaud lavoie who brought up fowler's name

It might not be realistic to get much more than Fowler in return but I think that's the point Murray is making by asking for Fowler++. It's offer us something ridiculous or we are keeping him

Yea I read that it was Lavoie that dropped Fowler's name which is why I'm so surprised. He's money when it comes to things like this.

Fowler may be a product of his environment but he's a young Olympian star defenseman that any team would love. I get it that you might have too many d-men like him in the system, but if that's the only deal the Ducks are willing to pony up, I think you have to accept it.

or reject it...that's the thing with myers...imo, the sabres don't need to trade him and from the sound of it, murray will get an overpayment or just keep him...

the question is, what constitutes an overpayment and who will do it?

that's how we spend many hours here pecking away at our keyboards

I think Fowler is the better player than Myers so if you can upgrade Myers even though you see it as an unnecessary move, you do it. Fowler is 2 years younger and signed to just as good of a deal as Myers. He has experience of playing on a successful team which will help the youngsters in your lockerroom.

How's Mantha doing? I know he was struggling early on...is he still considered untouchable? Would you be willing to include him in a deal for Myers?

great points...now the big question.....

if that's the case, why would Anaheim trade him for myers?

just wondering...why do you think Holland's been inquiring about myers for nearly a year?
